ANAIS GIASSON

Anais practices in the areas of governance, rights, employment, and policy, in support of self-determination for First Nations and Indigenous organizations. She is called to the Bar of Ontario and the Bar of the Northwest Territories.

Anais holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Winnipeg. She earned her law degree from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University. As a law student, she provided education, outreach, and legal services as a caseworker at the Newcomer Legal Clinic and Lakehead University Community Legal Services.

Before turning to law, Anais worked at national parks in the Yukon and northern Manitoba. Her personal, academic, and professional interests include northern issues, Canadian multiculturalism, and biodiversity.

Anais is a member of the Board of Directors of Our Kids Count in Thunder Bay, and enjoys her other role as a mentor in the Big Brother Big Sisters program.

Outside of lawyering, Anais likes to spend time baking, reading, and strolling through the boreal forest. Her house plants remain a work in progress.
