Caitlin Tolley

Associate Lawyer

Caitlin is a trusted advisor who provides expert legal and strategic advice with the aim to further the interests of First Nation communities and individuals located throughout Northern Ontario.

Her legal practice is focused largely on administrative law, business law, First Nations governance, and Aboriginal law. She is passionate about supporting First Nation governments, organizations, businesses in advancing their self determination and enhancing their economic development.

Before entering private practice, Caitlin worked as legal counsel for the Government of Ontario for five years in Toronto, advising on government policy initiatives affecting Indigenous peoples and was seconded to the Law Enforcement Complaints Agency.

She has a deep understanding of government operations, which includes the decision-making processes, as well as the legislation and regulations that shape policy and law. She articled in-house at the Royal Bank of Canada.

Caitlin holds an LL.M. in Administrative Law from Osgoode Hall Law School and a Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa. Prior to entering law, Caitlin served as an elected Band Councillor for her First Nation. Caitlin serves on the Board of Directors for the Empire Club of Canada.

Caitlin is Algonquin First Nation and is a member of Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg, located in western Quebec. She remains connected to her culture and community through embodying a commitment to preserving traditional teachings.
