2024 Summer Law Student

 

Edwards Bell Jewitt LLP is a law firm serving Indigenous Nations, people, communities and organizations. We are based in Thunder Bay, and serve clients across Treaty 9, Treaty 5, Treaty 3 and Robinson Superior treaty areas.

We are looking for a summer law student to assist our lawyers with a variety of files. The ideal candidate is a 1L student with an interest in and demonstrated experience with First Nations in Treaty 9, Treaty 5, Treaty 3 and Robinson Superior treaty areas.

The position will involve a mix of legal research, support for lawyers on files, as well as administrative support and coverage for staff vacations. In addition, the successful candidate may spend time working throughout the office, including covering reception, filing, digitizing files, and other administrative tasks.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have completed at least 1L of law school;
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and individuals;
  • Knowledge of and experience with the First Nations of Treaty 9, Treaty 5, Treaty 3 and Robinson Superior treaty areas;
  • Ability to multi-task; and
  • Positive team attitude and ability to work independently.
